Hi, I'm Maya Jennings — child & family therapist.
I work with kids ages 5–14 who are struggling with big feelings, big changes, or big worries — and with the parents who want to understand how to help.
Sessions use play, art, and age-appropriate conversation. Parents are part of the process too — you'll always know what we're working on and why.

How we actually spend our time.
Kids don't sit and talk for 45 minutes — so sessions use tools that meet them where they are.
What brings families through the door.
Anxiety & worry
Kids who feel nervous, worry about everything, or have trouble at school because of it. We use play and gentle exposure to build confidence facing what scares them.
Big emotions
Naming and managing feelings that feel too big to handle, through games that make emotions concrete.
Family changes
Divorce, moving, a new sibling — adjusting at their own pace, without pressure to "be okay" right away.
Social & behavioral challenges
Trouble with friendships, school behavior, or big transitions — worked through role-play and practical, real-world skill-building your child can actually use.
How therapy actually works for kids.
Parent consultation
A first call with parents/caregivers — no kids yet — to understand what's going on.
Getting to know you
Your child meets me through play, at their own pace, no pressure to "open up."
Weekly sessions
45-minute play-based sessions, with regular parent check-ins along the way.
Progress reviews
Every few weeks, a check-in with parents on what's shifting and what's next.
"Kids don't always have the words yet. Play is how they tell us what's going on."

Before you reach out.
Will my child actually talk about their feelings?
Not always in words at first — and that's okay. Play is how younger kids process and communicate. Talking often comes naturally once they feel safe, sometimes weeks in.
Can I stay in the room during sessions?
For the first session, often yes. After that, most kids do best with one-on-one time, but parents are always included through regular check-ins and coaching sessions.
How will I know if it's working?
Through regular parent check-ins every few weeks, where we review specific changes at home and school, and adjust the approach together.
What ages do you see?
I work with kids ages 5–14. For teens 15+, I'm happy to refer you to a colleague who specializes in that age group.
